What is a Daily Lesson Log (DLL)?

A DLL is a daily plan that outlines your objectives, activities, materials and assessments. It keeps lessons organized, learning outcomes targeted and classroom time focused. More importantly, it empowers teachers to teach with clarity and confidence.

Techniques for Effective Lesson Planning

One of the best practices is Begin with the End—define what students need to learn first, then build lessons around that goal. This approach ensures your instruction is purposeful and aligned with DepEd’s competencies.

The 4Ms—Manageable, Measurable, Made First and Most Important—help you focus on essential content that fits your schedule and is easy to assess.

Use the Post-it Technique to display daily objectives on the board. This keeps students and observers informed and aligned with the lesson goals. The Shortest Path Technique encourages teachers to select the most efficient method to teach—be it direct instruction, group work or discussion.

Lastly, the Double Plan Technique reminds teachers to consider both their actions and what students should be doing during the lesson. This promotes student-centered learning and better engagement.
