Bold claim: YouTube just announced a new yearly feature that turns your viewing into a personal, data-driven story—and it’s not just for your favorite videos. YouTube is launching an annual recap that highlights trends in what you watched and how long you watched it in 2025.
In a Tuesday blog post, YouTube introduced Recap, which will roll out first in North America and then expand to multiple languages for users around the world later this week.
The feature will analyze your watch history to surface your top content and creators. If you used YouTube Music, you’ll also get a separate recap that reviews your listening activity and habits.
According to YouTube, you’ll receive a collection of up to 12 cards that spotlight your top channels, interests, and even how your viewing preferences evolved—potentially revealing which personality type your viewing patterns align with based on your favorite videos.
Recap will categorize users according to predefined “personalities” derived from the kinds of videos you watched, such as DIY content or newly released videos.
Access to Recap is limited to logged-in users and appears on the homepage as well as within the You section of the app, making it easy to find on both mobile and desktop.
This move places YouTube alongside streaming and music platforms that already offer year-end summaries of user activity, similar to Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay, which have become popular social-media moments for fans.
